A letter to the President of the Philippines…

Greetings Mr. President!
I currently reside at Vigan City and as of now, I am a fourth year student of Ilocos Sur National High School. But enough about me sir, let’s talk about you.
I always follow the news on what you do sir – on how you’re doing, your administration, and sometimes, even your love life. I have learned that in your administration, many have improved. The decisions you made were significant. But in my relative view, not all of them were significantly prolific and good. Although not bad, with all due respect sir, some of them were useless. Take for example the warships, which were only a few billions, we bought for the Spratly islands China claims to be theirs. With my infantile analysis sir, I ask you these: do you really think that a few warships can do anything overly significant if China suddenly decided they want a war against us; do you think that a few second-hand warships can win against the powerful armada of China; and do you think not many lives will be lost if a war arises even with other countries behind our backs? The answer: a whooping NO! NO! and YES!
The Philippines' one and only warship/
We complain so much about poverty being widespread because of natural and man-made disasters that occur when in fact, these aren't even true. Some say we lack funds? Then where do we get the money to buy the items of war? If all the money spent on war was spent on finding environmental answers, the cure for diseases and ending poverty, what a wonderful place our country would be.
I am only a student, yet I know that as long as we’re willing to try, we can.

A wise man once said, “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
